Inspiration for a piece of artwork can come from anywhere. For example the outline for this piece was inspired by a wall grafittied by the painted fingers of a child. I saw this basic shape of a double-sided face among the chaoticly free-drawn lines. This painting is doubly inspired as well because as I was drawing and then painting this work I was thinking of the concept of sight and how the light given by the sun and reflected by the moon respresent that which allows us to see clearly. That the prerequisites for physical sight are healthy, functioning eyes and the choice to keep them open. And the prerequisites for spiritual sight are a healthy, functioning mind and the choice to keep it open.
